Sorrento presents “Visioni Simultanee” (Simultaneous visions)
On October 27th at the Armida Theater in Sorrento, Mayor Massimo Coppola will open the proceedings of the 28th edition of the Sorrento Peninsula Award among young proposals, cultural stories and social messages. Special recognitions to the Marche actress Giorgia Fiori and the Italian-Argentine singer Diego Moreno

Sorrento, October 6th 2023 – The title is paraphrased from the painting “Visioni Simultanee” by Umberto Boccioni and intends to capture the chaos but also the harmony of the overlaps of times, techniques and growing cities, in which culture becomes an authentic vital source and privileged observatory.

These simultaneous visions will inspire the opening evening of the 28th edition of the Premio Penisola Sorrentina (Sorrento Peninsula Award), organized by Mario Esposito in collaboration with the Municipality of Sorrento and the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, the Campania Region Film Commission and the Metropolitan City of Naples.

The appointment is at the historic Armida Theater on October 27th, at 7.30 pm, to inaugurate the first of the two evenings promoted with the media partnership of Rai Cinema Channel.

On the occasion of the opening event, presented by the patron Mario Esposito and the Rai author Raffaella Salamina, the City of Sorrento will award three special prizes for the audiovisual sector.

One will go to the audiovisual and musical project: “Torna a Surriento” by Diego Moreno. Argentinian by birth but Italian-Neapolitan by adoption, guitarist of Fred Bongusto, Moreno will receive the special prize for the musical audiovisual focused on the twinning between Sorrento and Mar del Plata.

The other winner in the “young actress of the year” category will be Giorgia Fiori from the Marche region. Born in Ascoli Piceno, Giorgia Fiori was recently the protagonist of the film “New Life” by Ivan Polidoro, released in theaters this summer. We will soon see her again at the cinema as co-protagonist of the feature films “Ancora Volano Farfalle” (Butterflies Still Fly) and “La Spiaggia dei Gabbiani (The Beach of the Seagulls), presented as a national preview last September as part of the 80th Venice International Film Festival, at the Italian Pavillon during the “Le Marche in Mostra” event, organized by the Marche Cultura Foundation and the Marche Film Commission.

A special prize will also go to the best audiovisual production of social communication through the Unavi commercial, chaired by Paola Radaelli, with the voice of Luca Ward. Unavi is an association that fights for the protection of victims and their families and brings together the relatives of those who have suffered violence.

The following day, the work of the Award will continue with the gala-show during which the awards will be presented to the cinema and television series personalities of the year. Numerous figures of national and international importance are expected, including Piero Armenti, the creator and founder of “Il mio viaggio a New York” (My journey to New York).

“On the occasion of the twenty-eighth edition of the Premio Penisola Sorrentina, our city is preparing, once again, to be the protagonist of an event of great national importance. Once again the format is destined to be enriched with content thanks to the use of expressions which will see the world of cinema, audiovisual and live entertainment interested”, said the Mayor of Sorrento Massimo Coppola in this regard.
