On Saturday, September 12th, 2026, the web channel StoriaCinema will dedicate a special episode to the great Neapolitan intellectual.
Featuring Giovanni Cecini and Michelangelo Iossa, the program explores his books and music, and includes a prestigious sartorial tribute from E. Marinella.
One hundred years of Riccardo Pazzaglia: Saturday, September 12, 2026, marks the centenary of the birth in Naples of a writer, journalist, actor, lyricist, and director who was among the most brilliant, witty, and versatile figures of 20th-century Italy. To celebrate this significant milestone, the popular web channel StoriaCinema—directed by Giovanni Cecini—is presenting a special episode titled “100 Years of RICCARDO PAZZAGLIA.” It will be available on YouTube (@GiovanniCeciniStoriaCinema) starting at 6:45 AM on Saturday, September 12th, 2026.
Italian historian Giovanni Cecini will host journalist and writer Michelangelo Iossa. In a compelling and insightful conversation, the two guests will trace Pazzaglia’s “thousand lives” and extraordinary cultural legacy, focusing on his books, his songs, and his profound artistic partnership with Domenico Modugno—a subject Iossa knows intimately, having co-created the show “Meraviglioso – Omaggio a Domenico Modugno” with singer-songwriter Marco Francini.

Born and raised in Naples’ Rione Sanità district and a directing graduate of the *Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia* (where he studied under masters such as Blasetti, De Sica, and Rossellini), Riccardo Pazzaglia navigated the decades with razor-sharp intelligence. His career spanned everything from cinema to avant-garde radio (*Radio Ombra*) and historical novels to the television triumph of Renzo Arbore’s *Quelli della Notte*, in which he played the role of the unforgettable “philosopher.”
The broadcast will also feature a special initiative: the iconic red toy horse from Luciano De Crescenzo’s film *Così parlò Bellavista* has become the centerpiece of a refined pure silk tie, created exclusively for the Neapolitan sartorial fashion brand E. Marinella. Crafted in Naples and presented in a box set complete with a commemorative booklet, the piece blends elegance with a playful spirit. Furthermore, the original toy horse from the film is currently on display at the brand’s Naples boutique on Via Riviera di Chiaia/Piazza Vittoria.
It is a fitting tribute to a key figure who captured the most authentic and cultured soul of Naples.
