Paolo Caiazzo Opens the "Affabulazione" Festival with the Show-Event "Terroni si nasce" in Ponticelli

On Friday, September 25, the Spazio Famiglie Multifunctional Center

hosts the first event of the “Jazz di Frontiera” (Frontier Jazz) section

NAPLES – The sharp, thoughtful wit of Paolo Caiazzo will inaugurate the new season of the “Affabulazione – Espressioni della Napoli policentrica” (Affabulazione – Expressions of Polycentric Naples) festival. The Neapolitan actor and comedian will present his hit show “Terroni si nasce” (You Are Born a Southerner)—the festival’s opening event—as part of the “Jazz di Frontiera” section.

The show—whose full title, “Terroni si nasce… ed io lo nacqui, modestamente” (You Are Born a Southerner… and I was born one, modestly), serves as an explicit and affectionate tribute to the genius of Totò—masterfully blends the style of musical theater with cabaret dynamics. Through a fast-paced succession of monologues, poems, and songs—all strictly accompanied by live musicians—Caiazzo will explore the facets of Southern identity with a light touch.

It is a journey of words and music that does not shy away from a critical yet entertaining analysis of the South’s strengths and flaws, while simultaneously offering keen insights into current events and national politics.

The event is part of the broader “Affabulazione” initiative, a multidisciplinary program encompassing theater, music, dance, and circus arts. The project is strongly backed and promoted by the Municipality of Naples, with support from the National Fund for Live Performance (General Directorate for Performing Arts of the Ministry of Culture), reaffirming the institutions’ commitment to the cultural revitalization of the city’s outlying areas and multifunctional centers.
