NAPLES – Having garnered widespread critical and public acclaim, “Giochi Sinestesici” (Synesthetic Games)—the first solo exhibition in Naples by artist Simone Chiorri—enters its final two weeks, remaining open to visitors until July 30. Chiorri’s exhibition is hosted within the monumental setting of the Hall of Mirrors at the Grand Hotel Parker’s in Naples.

The exhibition was created under the expert supervision of Pietro Del Vaglio, one of Italy’s most internationally acclaimed designers and interior architects. Del Vaglio successfully fostered a dialogue between the vibrant energy of Chiorri’s canvases and the Neoclassical grandeur of the Hall of Mirrors. In this evocative setting of reflections, architectural stability meets the dynamic force of the act of painting, offering visitors a totally immersive, synesthetic experience.

At the heart of the exhibition lies the concept of “play,” understood as a value driving evolution and an essential behavioral mode. Drawing inspiration from the animal kingdom—such as a mother cat teaching her kittens to wrestle without ever unsheathing her claws—Chiorri identifies play as a protective act: a precise, powerful simulation of reality that is strictly devoid of destructive violence.

A native of Perugia, Simone Chiorri stands out as a unique voice in the contemporary art scene. His stylistic signature defies commercial trends, drawing instead upon deep cultural layers. An intimate form of abstraction born from an original reflection on time, memory, and history.

In the exhibited works, synesthesia moves beyond the conceptual realm to become pure sensory immediacy. Chiorri invites the viewer into a guided “hallucination” of sorts, where it becomes possible to “see” a sound and perceive its vibration upon the canvas. “I do not depict a scene in motion, but simply a motor act that alludes to the scene,” the artist explains. The viewer is thus called upon to become a co-creator of the work, using the dynamic impulse conveyed by the color to reconstruct their own intimate, internal representation.

The exhibition has been warmly received by the press, collectors, and art enthusiasts alike, all of whom allowed themselves to be enveloped by the sensory universe of an artist capable of shattering the two-dimensionality of the canvas. Furthermore, Simone Chiorri has gifted one of his most significant works, titled “Spazio Scenico” (Scenic Space), to the Grand Hotel Parker’s and the Avallone family. The painting will officially join the prestigious permanent collection of Naples’ oldest grand hotel, reinforcing the historic bond between the establishment and contemporary art.

With the scenographic and critical support of Pietro Del Vaglio, “Giochi Sinestesici” (Synesthetic Games) stands out as a must-see cultural event of the season in Southern Italy, blending rigorous neuroscientific research into the artistic gesture with the vibrant hospitality of this Mediterranean capital.
